Celebrations Around the World
Presented by the International Center
November 13-17

International Education Week (IEW), November 13-17, 2023, is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences. 

November 13, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Welcome to International Education Week and Study Abroad Fair
B Lobby/Student Central
There will be a table advertising all of the week’s events with snacks and an in-person Study Abroad Fair for all 4 programs. There will also be IEW decorations and a photo backdrop that will stay for the duration of the week.

November 14, 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. | Internships, Careers, & Practical Training for International Students

November 14, 1-2 p.m. | What’s Weird About America?

A panel of international students describing something they found or find “weird” about American culture, accompanied by cocoa and cupcakes.

November 15, 1-2 p.m. | Internships, Careers, & Practical Training for International Students

November 15, 4-6 p.m. | World Celebrations International Festival  Students
B-Lobby
There will be musical performances, dances & dance lessons, games, crafts, cooking demonstration, storytelling, and a country fair featuring international students. Students are encouraged to wear their traditional cultural clothing. Sample food from around the world prepared and/or chosen by BHCC's international students.

November 16, 4-5 p.m. | World Celebrations Game Show Trivia

An interactive game show hosted by international students centering on holidays and celebrations around the world. Students can win up to $100 in Amazon gift certificates! Participants can sample food from Sweet Rice Japanese and Thai restaurant, along with the baklava (Halal) and teas from around the world.
