Part of TRiO Summer Programs, TRiO Chelsea students visited UMass Amherst

As part of TRiO Summer Programs, TRiO Chelsea students visited UMass Amherst on July 10. While there, students enjoyed a tour of the state’s flagship University, ate lunch in Worcester Commons, learned about admissions requirements and met with students and staff from the Center for Multicultural Advancement and Student Success (CMASS).

TRiO Chelsea students engaged in valuable conversations about how to prepare in high school to be viable candidates for UMass. Students also learned about transferring from community colleges to four-year universities as an alternative path to UMass Amherst.

CMASS students talked with TRiO Chelsea students about supports and opportunities available to students of color and other marginalized groups at UMass Amherst. TRiO Chelsea students found it very encouraging to hear the experiences of students currently attending UMass.
