¡Piensa! Contemporary Issues Facing Latina Professionals
Six Latina professionals convened ¡Piensa! Contemporary Issues Facing Latina Professionals, where they discussed the impact of empowered Latina professionals in the community, in the workplace and on the family. The Chelsea Campus event was part of the College’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Damian Folch, MD, joined attendees in the Community Room of the Chelsea Campus for his interactive presentation Engaging the Latin@ Patient, part of the College’s series of events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

Artist’s Reception for “Mostly @ Sea”
At a reception for German Pérez—known as the Caribbean Chagall—on September 21, guests savored an evening of art and conversation on the Charlestown Campus as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. Perez is the husband of Maria Hinojosa, who spoke about racial inequality at BHCC on March 3, 2016, as part of the College’s Women’s History Month celebration.

German Pérez gave the talk ¡Disfruta! The Power of Community and the Arts, at Chelsea High School. He discussed how art expresses hope.

¡Inspirate! Unlocking Silent Histories
Fresh from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, educator and filmmaker Donna DeGennaro, Ph.D. presented ¡Inspirate!, Unlocking Silent Histories, on September 27 at the Chelsea Campus. She discussed her work with youth in Guatemala and how the films she creates cross generations, preserve traditions and amplify Hispanic voices.

Dr. Lydia Villa-Komaroff, Chief Scientific Officer at Cytonome, shared her personal story about becoming a leader in her field and about the family that inspired her success.

Compelling Conversation with John Quiñones
The renowned ABC correspondent shared his personal story of defying stereotypes and overcoming adversity in a Compelling Conversation, then afterwards met and talked with Bunker Hill students.
