"Looking" and Seeing": Art, Perception and Hidden Treasures in the Material World: A Conversation with Guest Artist Woomin Kim
Event
Art Gallery
A Conversation with Guest Artist Woomin Kim
Every work of art has its own unique, distinctive and intrinsic qualities that allow us to perceive and understand it in both individual and collective ways. "Looking" at art, with our eyes, hands or other senses, deepens our understanding of the object. But what do we really see? To "see" a work simply in terms of the artist's biography, or by an assumption of what the artist intends the viewer to see, is not the only way of looking at art. Perhaps our "seeing" art in new and exciting ways reveals another story . . . other hidden stories.
Join BHCC guest artist Woomin Kim as she discusses her Minerals in Use series, now part of Boston Children's Museum latest exhibition Looking and Seeing, opening May 1, 2021 and running through July 29. https://bostonchildrensmuseum.org/future-gallery-shows
Featuring remarks by Melissa Higgins, Senior Director, STEAM and Faith Johnson, Art Educator and Program Manager, Boston Children's Museum.
Sponsored by the Mary L. Fifield Art Gallery
