From the afro to braids to the Jheri curl to dreadlocks, to relaxed hair to fantasy hair, from the historically loaded terms “good” hair and “bad” hair, the issues surrounding Black hair continue to linger as we enter the twenty-first century. Engage in this salon talk with educator, activist and literary performer Yvette Modestin, BHCC alumna Bianca Broxton, entrepreneur and Black and Women-business owner Barbara Lane as they explore the fascination with hair and beauty that has long been a cherished part of black culture.
