(Recommended for students on an F1-Visa) This workshop will follow the transfer curriculum of Planning, Exploring, Applying and Deciding and will highlight the unique transfer process for international students. This workshop is in collaboration with the International Center at BHCC.

English language learners, please join Language Lab ELL/English tutor Joshua Heerter for our weekly conversation groups. We focus on pronunciation, grammar, and usual American ways of speaking. We plan to talk about important topics for BHCC students, including: registration, financial aid, career planning, on-campus jobs, communicating with professors, strategies for language learners in class, and much more! The groups are free to join, there is no registration required, and all may join for as long or as little as they wish.

Women’s History Month: A World of Black Dolls--with Doll Expert Debra Britt and Artist Aniqua Wilkerson

Explore the fascinating world of dolls, doll play and doll making with experts Debra Britt, Founder and Executive Director of the former National Black Doll Museum, and Aniqua Wilkerson, doll maker, artist and cultural historian. This engaging conversation will address the creation of racial stereotypes in Black dolls that lead to a persistence of racism in American history. Featuring an interactive showcase of dolls and audience discussion with the expert and artist.

Steps to Success Workshops
(Recommended for students with 0-30 credits) This workshop will focus on the first two stages of transferring: Planning and Exploring. Students will receive an overview of statewide transfer programs and incentives, how to transfer credits, searching for colleges, and other resources to clarify the transfer process. Recommended for students who are learning about transferring for the first time. It’s never too early to begin thinking about transfer!

Women’s History Month: The Annual Women’s Justice Roundtable (AWJR) at BHCC with Robin Chandler, Ph.D.

Dr. Robin Chandler, BHCC’s Inaugural Artist Scholar in Residence, will conduct an informal roundtable including women (and men) from the BHCC community and their partners. Come prepared to share stories, reports, and updates on your social justice efforts on behalf of women and girls. This roundtable will include a brief presentation by Chandler on progress in global women’s movements, then facilitate a conversation among attendees on what you are doing to advance the rights of women and girls. Q&A to follow the discussion.
