Conversations and Connections student club meetings, facilitated by Joshua Heerter The purpose of this group is to acquire and practice standardized American English, while at the same time learning how to navigate life at the College as an English Language Learner and/or immigrant. We will talk about the best language learning methods, along with strategies for dealing with coursework, professors, classmates, registration, transfer and career planning, financial issues, and much more. We discuss many of the challenges of life at the College, as well the ways to take advantage of the many opportunities that exist at Bunker Hill as well. The group is open to all students. We are pleased to welcome prospective first-year students to campus for a tour. Led by an admission counselor, this hour and half visit includes a Bunker Hill application overview and a campus tour. The overview covers the admission process and financial aid, followed up by a student led tour.

Advance registration is required. We will not be able to accommodate walk-in visitors at this time.

This workshop will focus on the first two stages of transferring: Preparing and Exploring. Students will receive an overview of statewide transfer programs and incentives, how to transfer credits, searching for colleges, and other resources to clarify the transfer process.

Recommended for students who are learning about transferring for the first time. Its never too early to begin thinking about transfer!

Speaker: Robert Harris

Robert Harris is a six year veteran of the United States Army (1960-1966) and a retired correctional officer. He is also a proud member of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club Hartford, CT chapter. He is the author of “Historical Moments: Military Contributions of African Americans”. Robert believes that "Historical Moments" will help fill the gap in our nation's history books on the military contributions of the African American. Black History is American History.
