Biology and Chemistry Degrees and Certificates
Biological Sciences Program
This program offers two degree options: Biology Transfer and Biotechnology. Each option prepares students for employment and for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Each option engages students in industry-level, inquiry based laboratory.
This concentration prepares students to transfer to four-year colleges or universities to seek bachelor’s degrees in chemistry. After transferring, students develop a course of study to become proficient in one or more of the divisions of chemistry; e.g., polymer chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, or hazardous waste management. A further goal of the program is to provide students with the technical coursework and laboratory experience that would enable them to enter the work force as entry-level laboratory technicians in positions that require some background in the physical and/or biological sciences. Graduates of this concentration may qualify to transfer using benefits of MassTransfer to a four-year state college or University of Massachusetts campus.
