New Student Checklist

GET READY

  • Log in to your BHCC Admissions Dashboard to view your Acceptance Letter 
  • Your acceptance letter will include your student ID number, username and password to access BHCC email and your myBHCC (SelfService) account.
  • Submit proof of high school completion by mail, in person or by email to admissions@bhcc.edu 
    • The following documents may be used to satisfy this requirement: 
    • Final high school transcript with date of graduation 
    • Copy of a high school diploma may be submitted in person with a photo ID
    • Official GED/HiSet certificate or copy submitted in person with a photo ID
    • Official transcript from an accredited college or university indicating completion of an associate degree or bachelor’s degree OR at least 30 earned college level credits.
    • All above stated documents should be submitted in one of the following ways: 
      • Directly from the high school in a sealed envelope OR Electronically through Parchment or a comparable electronic transcript software
      • Official college transcripts should be submitted following the BHCC transcript policy here: https://www.bhcc.edu/transfertobhcc/
      • Via email to admissions@bhcc.edu when sent directly from a school official with a school email address
  • Home-schooled students should consult the Home School Policy and must submit proof of an approved homeschool plan from their district. 
  • Log into your BHCC Email.  BHCC email is the official method of communication for the college. Information about your courses and financial aid will be sent to your college email only. 
  • Log into your myBHCC (SelfService) Account. This gives you access to:
    • Plan and register for classes and live Chat with Academic Advisors. 
    • View class schedule & program requirements, unofficial copy of your transcript, and Financial Aid award
  • Apply for Financial Aid: Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online. BHCC’s school code is 011210
  • Pay for classes or set up a payment plan by the due date. Some students will have a bill even with financial aid.  
  • Waive Your Health Insurance. Health insurance is required for students registered in nine or more credits.  You will be charged unless you show you have comparable health insurance.  Complete the online waiver at gallagherstudent.com/students.

All students have two options for completing their New Student Orientation requirement:

  • Option 1. Register to attend an in-person orientation held on campus. All new accepted students will receive an email with a link to register for the in-person orientation session. The registration link will be sent to the email you used to apply to the College. If you did not receive an email, please contact the Admissions and Recruitment Office at admissions@bhcc.edu. 
  • Option 2. Complete the virtual student orientation.

GET SET

  • To view all placement options, register to take a math placement test and complete your English placement, visit the Assessment and Testing Center
  • Submit official college transcript(s) from courses taken at regionally accredited colleges and universities in the United States or from countries outside of the United States. Visit Transferring Credits into BHCC webpage for more information.
  • This requirement must be completed before you can register for classes.
  • New students are required to attend a group advising session. You will meet academic advisors and learn how to plan classes and register. 
  • Check your email for more information about signing up for group advising sessions.

  • Transferring credits from another college or university, visit the Prior Course Work page.
  • Interested in learning about credit for prior learning? Contact Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) to discuss any learning acquired outside of the traditional college environment that might qualify for college credit.
