Technical Requirements

BHCConline Minimum Technical Requirements

BHCConline courses can be accessed with most of today's desktop or laptop computers - both PC and Mac. High speed Internet connection (DSL/cable) is recommended, especially since you will uploading and downloading files frequently - and some of the file sizes may be large.

Requirements and Recommendations in preparing your computer for BHCConline courses:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher) will be required for your courses. Office 2010 recommended, Office 2007 acceptable.
  • Web Browsers:

Mozilla Firefox (most recommended browser for Moodle - latest version, for PC or Mac) or
Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser (latest version, for PC) or
Google Chrome (not fully compatible, but usable)
Safari (latest version, for Mac) (Note: Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled on your web browser.)

  • Common Plug-in Requirements ("Plug-ins" are free add-ins that allow advanced course features to function with your browser or application):

Students who do not have access to a computer at home may use computers on campus. Computers are available at the Charlestown campus in the Center for Self-Directed Learning (Room H165), Library (3rd Floor, E Building) or Academic Computing (Room D111).
