Career Center

The Career Center provides a wide range of career services to all currently-enrolled students and alumni and provides a valuable link in the partnership between the College and the business community. Working closely with the academic programs, professional staff members assist students in job placement and the process of career development. The Center houses a library of career information, current job listings, internships and career/job search resources, including DISCOVER computer-based career and educational planning software and WinWay resume software.

Career and Life Planning
Realizing one’s own special interests and capabilities is an important first step in career and life planning. Staff members help students identify marketable skills, career interests and values using a variety of workshop and assessment materials.

Job Search Activities
Many jobs are posted weekly from Boston-area employers. Workshops designed to assist students in all aspects of finding employment are offered, including resume writing, interviewing skills, how to look for a job, tips for second language job seekers, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and more. A Job Club for graduating students is also offered.

Job Fairs
Job Fairs are held in the fall and spring semesters to provide employers with an opportunity to actively recruit on campus. Students are able to explore employment and career opportunities in several industries through personal contact with employers. Job Fairs are widely advertised on the campus. Workshops are offered through the Career Center to prepare students to be successful at the Job Fair.

The Career Center at Bunker Hill Community College invites you to participate in the upcoming Fall 2011 Job Fair to be held at the Charlestown Campus on November 16, 2011 from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM.   We want to connect you with our diverse and talented student body who are seeking employment opportunities!

Internships
Build upon the skills you’ve learned in the classroom and get the hands-on experience you need to be marketable in your field of study with an internship! Work on challenging assignments and receive mentoring from a qualified professional. You’ll also expand your knowledge of career options and begin to establish your own professional connections. Internships can be both academic and non-academic. Consult your program to see if an internship is even a required course for your major. Finding and applying for an internship takes time but there are many resources to help you. Visit the Internship Network to learn more.
