2007-03-13 - BHCC Board Chair Honored by Women’s Golf Association
Boston, March 13, 2007 – Jeanne-Marie Boylan, Chair of the Bunker Hill Community College Board of Trustees, has received the May Jackson Award for distinguished service from the Women’s Golf Association of Massachusetts (WGAM). The award honors outstanding women who have contributed to the growth and continuity of the WGAM. Only nine awards have been presented in the past two decades.
Jeanne-Marie Boylan has served on the WGAM Board as well as United States Golf Association (USGA) committees, including the Executive Committee. She remains active as President of WGAM Junior Scholarship Fund and as a member of the USGA Grants Committee. Ms. Boylan is a three time Massachusetts State Amateur champion having won the title in 1975, 1976 and 1978. Founded in 1900, the Women's Golf Association of Massachusetts is the oldest state women's golf association in the United States. The WGAM currently serves over 2000 individual members who belong to more than 180 member clubs.
Ms. Boylan, a well respected business leader, is the Executive Vice President, Treasurer and CFO for the Boston Sand and Gravel Company. She has been an active supporter of Bunker Hill Community College since 1995. Currently, Ms. Boylan serves as Chair of the Bunker Hill Community College Board of Trustees. During her tenure as Chair, the Board was awarded the prestigious Charles Kennedy Equity Award by the Association of Community College Trustees for its commitment and leadership in promoting an inclusive campus environment for women and persons of color. Since 1995, Ms. Boylan has further committed her time and expertise to the Bunker Hill Community College Foundation, Inc., where she currently serves as Treasurer.
Ms. Boylan holds a gubernatorial appointment on the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education (BHE) where she serves as the representative of the community colleges. She presently chairs the BHE Fiscal Affairs Committee and chaired BHE’s Task Force on Retention and Completion Rates at the Community Colleges. She served as the President of the Massachusetts Community College Trustees Association from 2001-2004. At the national level, Ms. Boylan has served as a member of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Board of Directors since 2003 and has served on ACCT’s Public Policy Committee, Finance/Audit Committee and Nominating Committee.
