2009-03-13 - Danish Students Learn Global Business Skills at Bunker Hill Community College
March 12, 2009, BOSTON, MA – On Friday, March 13th, 24 Danish vocational students will complete two weeks of study at Bunker Hill Community College. The students, from the Handelsskolen Minerva Business Academy in Randers, Denmark, will have completed a two-week course of study designed to prepare them to succeed in the global economy. Areas of study include Business English, American business culture, marketing and personnel management.
The session also allows the Danish students to participate with BHCC students in classes such as American government and sociology. In the sociology class, the Danish students and their BHCC counterparts discuss the cultural issues of doing business in their own countries and across borders.
“Danish students have the opportunity to study with the diverse, global population at BHCC,” said Director of Community Education Irene Bascuñana-Jay. “BHCC students and faculty also benefit from this partnership.”
Nine other students and one faculty member from the Skanderborg-Odder Center in Skandenborg, Denmark are also studying at BHCC for a four-week course, which will be completed on April 3rd. These students are creating a “model company” in the food industry that will import products from the United States.
“The activities we have designed for the Danish students have been very successful and are an integral part of the global learning experience for faculty and students,” said Executive Director of the International Center Vilma Tafawa.
