2009-01-09 - Bunker Hill Community College Magazine Wins Second Major Award
Boston, January 9, 2009 – The 20,000-circulation BHCC Magazine has won its second major quality award in as many years, Mary L. Fifield, BHCC President, announced today. CASE, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, gave the magazine a Gold award for Best Overall Magazine and a Silver award for Best Design for District 1, which includes northeastern United States and parts of Canada. CASE also gave BHCC a Silver award in the Best Poster category for a poster on sustainability.
“CASE sets the standards for publications in higher education, and these awards are a great honor for our College,” Fifield said. “BHCC is the only community college in District 1 to win a CASE award in the magazine category this year. This recognition is a major endorsement of the importance of community colleges, which educate nearly half of the undergraduates in the nation.” Headquartered in Washington, D.C., with offices in London and Singapore, CASE is the major professional organization for education professionals in alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing.
CASE will present the awards in March at its northeast regional meeting in Boston. In 2007, BHCC Magazine won the Paragon Award for Best Magazine from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. In 2008, the BHCC communications and creative services staff, which produces the magazine as well as posters and other publications, won a Massachusetts Commonwealth Citation for Outstanding Performance in the state’s Performance Recognition Program.
“Bunker Hill Community College has so many stories that are important to tell,” said Patricia Brady, BHCC Magazine editor. “With this encouragement from CASE, we will continue writing those stories and sharing them with the world.”
