2008-12-10 - MaryAnne Miller to Assume Position of Dean of Chelsea Campus and Satellite Operations.

Boston, December 10, 2008. Ms. MaryAnne Miller will take up the position of Dean of The Chelsea Campus and Satellite Operations on January 5, 2009. Ms. Miller is currently the state coordinator for educator preparation for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Prior to that appointment, she held management positions at Middlesex Community College, in Bedford, Massachusetts. At Middlesex, she was a senior administrator in student affairs, and the manager of several field-based locations. Ms. Miller also led the Department of Education funded TRIO programs, aimed at assuring post secondary success, at this college. In addition, she also established the GEAR UP program at Middlesex, and participated in its most recent NEASC self-study evaluation. (NEASC, the nation’s oldest regional accrediting association, stands for   “New England Association of Schools and Colleges.”)

No stranger to Bunker Hill Community College, Ms. Miller has been working at the Chelsea campus, on a part-time basis, as the evening student advisor. Her experience in advising includes designing support-service programs for promoting educational opportunity and access, especially for first-generation college students, as well as staff leadership and team building.

Established in 1987, the Bunker Hill Community College Chelsea Campus plays a key role in the social and economic development of the greater Chelsea area. The campus provides the opportunity for higher education and job training to residents of Chelsea, Revere, Everett, East Boston, Malden and Winthrop. In January 1998, the Chelsea Campus moved to its new location in Bellingham Square. This state-of-the-art, three-story facility has allowed the college to expand its courses and programs. Comprehensive student services are provided to students who enroll at the Chelsea Campus. Prospective students may come directly to the Chelsea Campus to apply to the college and to complete the enrollment process including registering for classes.
