2008-11-18 - Best-selling Author Bob Woodward to Speak at Bunker Hill Community College on December 4, 2008

Boston, November 18, 2008. Best-selling author and journalist Bob Woodward will speak at Bunker Hill Community College on Thursday, December 4, 2008. Woodward will inaugurate the College’s annual “Compelling Conversations” speaker series, which is free and open to the public. His lecture will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the A 300 Auditorium, and is followed by a book signing and reception. Woodward’s latest book, The War Within: A Secret White House History 2006-2008, is the final work in a four-part series on the administration of President Bush.

Called by Bob Schieffer of CBS News “the best reporter of our time,” Bob Woodward achieved international prominence with his Pulitzer-prize winning exposé of the Watergate scandal, co-authored with journalist Carl Bernstein. A journalist for The Washington Post since 1971, Woodward is the author or co-author of eleven best-selling non-fiction books. He has received nearly every American journalism award, and was the main reporter for the Post’s articles on the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks that won the National Affairs Pulitzer Prize in 2002.

“We are honored that one of the most pre-eminent journalists of our time will speak on our campus,” said Bunker Hill Community College President Mary L. Fifield. “I am delighted that Bob Woodward, who has risen to fame with his modern-day chronicles of U.S. presidents, will address our College.”

BHCC’s “Compelling Conversations” speaker series has brought both national and international intellectual celebrities to its campus. Past speakers have included documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, journalist and author Mariane Pearl and world-renowned peace activist Jehan Sadat. Feminist icon Gloria Steinem will speak at the College in the spring series, on February 24, 2009.
