Lesson 1: As the Semester Ends ? Policies and Procedures

The workshop is offered two times during the academic year; once during the Fall semester and once during the Spring semester.  The workshop is comprised of two main components; the main workshop course were participants are enrolled as "students" and participate in threaded discussions with other workshop participants, receive assignments, and learn, first hand, what it is like to participate in an online course from a student?s perspective.

The second component is a "sandbox" course in which each participant has their own sample course that they access to complete assignments and participate in hands-on activities designed to introduce you to the course management system.

Workshop facilitators have access to each participant's sandbox course so that we can access the course and provide feedback on how well you have met assignment criteria.  Grades are given and based on a standard "complete" or "incomplete" grading scale.  The course is demanding both from both a time commitment as well as work load but does serve as our certification process as well so it is designed to be rigid.

However, as long as participants put forth effort and make an attempt to complete the assignments and participate in the discussions, they usually complete the course satisfactorily and become certified to teach for the Bunker Hill Community College Online College.

Please feel free to contact Dean Bill Sakamoto if you are interested in participating in the training workshop.
