STAND Program

Our Mission
STAND (Students Taking Action for Nursing Diversity) strives to assist the alleviation of health disparities through education, experience, and mentoring for Boston High School seniors focused on a career in the Healthcare Industry.

STAND provides high school students who have expressed an interest in the nursing field an opportunity to pursue a nursing degree at Bunker Hill Community College. Upon completion of the STAND program, and Bunker Hill Community College’s course prerequisites, participants will have guaranteed acceptance into Bunker Hill Community College’s Nursing Program. Students will also have the option to pursue a certificate from one of BHCC’s Allied Health fields (Medical Assisting, Medical Coding, Patient Care Technician, Phlebotomy Technician, or Surgical Technician). This will provide students with a basis for a career in which they will achieve an excellent salary, benefits, a rewarding career, and the respect of colleagues, family and friends.
