Mission

The mission of the Division of Arts & Sciences is to prepare students to contribute to, and thrive in a diverse, culturally rich, and technologically advanced society.

At the core of our many courses and programs are the analytical, cognitive, and expressive skills needed to assimilate and advance knowledge.  Through their classroom and laboratory instruction, creative arts, civic engagement and service learning, our students grow as individuals and prepare to contribute to the vitality of Greater Boston and the wider world.  The Division’s mission is realized through the following objectives:

  1. Providing the foundational courses such as mathematics, writing, and science, in support of the College’s professional programs.
  2. Preparing students for lifelong learning and responsibility as citizens, through the General Education curriculum.
  3. Preparing students for transfer to four-year institutions for further study in their chosen disciplines and careers.
  4. Enabling students who wish to work immediately upon graduation to function effectively in entry-level positions, and to advance in those careers through on-the-job training and further study.
