Where is the Advising/Counseling Center located?
The Advising/Counseling Center is located on the Charlestown campus on the 2nd floor of the B Building and in Room B215. Advising is also available on the Chelsea Campus; for Chelsea advising hours please call 617-228-2101.Assistance with access and utilization of WebAdvisor and your BHCC email is available at the Self-Service Counter in the main lobby of the B Building.
What are the hours of the Advising Center?
The Advising/Counseling Center Drop �in Office (room B215) on the Charlestown Campus is open during non-registration periods:

During registration periods, drop-in advising hours are more limited, contact 617-228-2230 for drop-in hours May - August and November - January.
Advising is also available on the Chelsea Campus; please call 617-228-2101 for hours.
Will someone help me choose my classes?
Advisors are available to help students learn how to understand program requirements and how to navigate the registration process. Students are responsible for choosing courses applicable to their program and selecting appropriate course meeting times and formats. Advising staff are available to assist students during the registration process.
How many credits do I need to take to be a full time student?
Students who carry 12 or more credit hours in a fall or spring semester or six credit hours in a summer or mini-session are full-time students.
What should I do before seeing my Advisor?
Advising is a shared responsibility between the Advisor and the student. Students should review their program evaluation in WebAdvisor and come prepared to ask questions.
Current and returning students assigned to a faculty member or professional staff member: All faculty and professional staff Advisors have a designated office, email, and phone number. Students should contact their assigned Advisor to schedule a meeting time convenient to both parties. Advising can also be accomplished over the phone or via email for students and Advisors who have scheduling conflicts.
Current and returning students assigned to a department (Science, Computer Information technology, Culinary/Hospitality, Legal Studies & Public Safety, & Office & Information Management): Students assigned to their department of study for advising can contact any of the full time faculty who teach in their program. Students should also pay attention to their email, most departments participating in departmental advising host group advising sessions throughout the semester. Current and returning students assigned to the Advising Center: Staff at the Advising/Counseling Center are available to sit down with you to discuss your goals and plans in a relaxed setting until the start of registration for the following semester/session. Please come prepared with a set of questions and please be prepared to discuss your academic and career goals. Academic Advisors will assist you in program selection and understanding your program requirements, however, students are responsible for creating a schedule by selecting appropriate course meeting times.
Once semester/session registration begins, the availability of walk-in advising times may be more limited. Staff will be available at the Self-Service Counter to help you access your online services/Web Advisor account.
Newly accepted students (matriculated) will be invited to attend a START SMART Session (College Placement Testing, the CPT, should be taken prior to attending START SMART. Transfer students and readmitted students should have either taken the CPT (College Placement Test) or come to a START SMART Session with transcripts from another college or university.
New Students should consider the following:

Who is my advisor
Advisors will be assigned to matriculated/accepted students. You will be assigned to a specific faculty or staff member or to the Advising Center. Your advisor will be listed on the Student Profile screen in your online services account in Web Advisor Click here to access WebAdvisor. Non-matriculated students are not assigned an advisor, those not formally accepted to the college, may utilize the Self-Service Counter in the Main Lobby of the B building. During registration periods advising staff are there to assist you. Non-matriculated students are encouraged to apply to the College through Admissions & Registration, main lobby of the B Building.
How do I get my email address?
Email addresses are assigned to all registered students. You will receive a letter from the College with your BHCC email address and initial password. Your email User Id and password are the same as your WebAdvisor user Id and Password. You can access your BHCC email through your WebAdvisor account under the User Accounts Section or you can go directly to - https://webmail.bhcc.edu . Your email address will be your userid@bhcc.edu. For issues related to accessing your BHCC email contact the Student Helpdesk at 617-228-3441.
How do I get access to my onlineservices/Web Advisor account?
I’ve forgotten my User Id for WebAdvisor.
I’ve forgotten my Password for WebAdvisor.
My password for my onlineservices/Web Advisor account is not working.
After you register for a course you will receive a letter with your user id and password. You can also access your User Id by going to What�s my User Id? in the User Account section of the Student menu of online services/WebAdvisor. Click here to access WebAdvisor. Your initial password will be the last 6 digits of your Social Security #. If you do not have a SS#, use the last 6 digits of your BHCC Id. If you have forgotten your password or it does not work try What’s my password? in the User Account section of the Student menu. Then select I don't remember, reset my password. Your password will automatically be reset to the last 6 digits of your Social Security Number (if you do not have a SS# - it will be reset to the last 6 digits of your BHCC Student ID #). If you are still having trouble accessing your account, you can contact the Student HelpDesk at 617-228-3441.
