GPA Placement Pilot Project

If you recently graduated from a Massachusetts high school, you may be qualified to participate in BHCC’s GPA Placement Pilot Project.  This project places you into certain college-level English and Math courses based on your high school GPA, regardless of what your College Placement Test/Accuplacer scores are.

To qualify for GPA placement, you must:

  • Have an overall high school GPA of 2.7 or higher;
  • Be a 2016 high school graduate from a participating Massachusetts high school (below).

To be considered for GPA placement, you will need to do the following upon acceptance into BHCC:

  • Take the Accuplacer test no later than January 3, 2017 at the Assessment Center in Room B-118 on the Charlestown Campus.
  • Submit your official high school transcript of records for evaluation on or before January 3, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.  You can submit your transcript electronically to, or drop it off at the Admissions and Registration window in the main lobby of the Charlestown Campus.

Once your transcript and Accuplacer scores are reviewed, the Admissions staff will contact you and let you know the next steps.

Can’t submit your transcript by January 3, but still want to be considered?  Transcripts submitted after the deadline will still be evaluated.  If you qualify for GPA placement but cannot be accommodated into English and Math courses during  Spring Semester 2017 due to lack of available seats, you may need to enroll in these courses for the next semester (Summer or Fall Semester 2017).
