The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Ceremony took place June 4, 2016, at 11 a.m. under the tent on the College’s Chelsea Campus. This was the first year that the ceremony was held in Chelsea. President Pam Y. Eddinger introduced keynote speaker Massachusetts State Senator Sal N. DiDomenico. Basic English for Speakers of Other Languages Level 4 Student Meryem Toudji, who is from Algeria, and Michel Parfait, a Transitions to College student who immigrated from Haiti, spoke. Associate Provost of the Chelsea Campus Alice Murillo was master of ceremonies, and Senior Special Programs Coordinator Toni F. Borge also addressed the gathering. Murillo, Borge and Academic Advisor Barry O’Brien presented certificates to students. The Adult Basic Education Program at Bunker Hill Community College is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
