Steps to Apply
NOTE: The Priority Deadline for the 2010 – 2011 EE&C Scholarship is June 1, 2010.
If you meet the eligibility criteria and are interested in applying for the ECE scholarship, you must complete the following activities in the following order:
Step 1: Matriculate in the associate degree program in early education and care or a related field at Bunker Hill Community College. You must apply for admission and be accepted to the college. A matriculated student has been accepted for admission to the college, has registered and is pursuing courses toward a degree.
- Complete an application for admission form and submit it to the Admissions & Transfer Office along with a copy of your high school diploma, transcript if a graduation date is recorded on it or GED.
- Original documents may be requested. If documents are not in English, an official translation must be attached.
- A $10 application fee for in-state residents or a $35 application fee for out-of-state residents is required.
- If you are claiming entitlement to in-state tuition, submit an Application for Massachusetts In-State Tuition Rates form with appropriate documentation.
- If you have taken college courses at another college, you will need to request that your official college transcript be sent to you. DO NOT OPEN the official transcript envelope. You will submit the official transcript in its sealed envelope along with your admissions application to the Admissions & Transfer Office. Transcript envelopes that are opened will not be accepted.
NOTE: If you are a Building Careers in ECE student or are a prospective Building Careers in ECE student, you will submit your admissions application, in-state tuition form and all required documents, including official college transcripts to Jack Chan at the address below:
Workforce Development Center, M-107
Bunker Hill Community College
250 New Rutherford Avenue

Step 2: Take the Assessment Test:
- Testing is offered on a walk-in basis (no appointment necessary) in room B118 on the Charlestown campus and on the Chelsea Campus.
- If you have completed a mathematics or English course with a grade of C or higher at an accredited institution, you may be eligible for exemption from testing. Submit a copy of your transcript or grade report to the Admissions Office, B202.
Step 3: Complete the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
This is a requirement of the scholarship and your application cannot be processed without receipt of your FAFSA.
Step 4: Complete the online ECE Scholarship application annually.
Printed applications are no longer available. Incomplete applications cause a delay in processing and awarding of scholarship funding. Please complete your application in full. All applicants will be required to set up an account to complete the application; applicants will have the ability to print a copy of their application.
NOTE: As a condition of receiving the scholarship award, you will agree to continue working in the field of early education and care or out of school time for a minimum of 6 months for every semester of scholarship funding you receive. |
