Bunker Hill Community College will provide all students with the quality education and support services necessary to achieve academic competencies and realize personal goals.

Learning is the cornerstone of the college. We empower students to become critical thinking learners who can productively confront the challenges of todayÍs world. To this end, we will:

  • establish eight learning outcomes (Communication, Personal and Professional Competence, Technology, Critical Thinking, Diversity, Scientific Method, Aesthetics, and Quantitative Reasoning) that define BHCC graduate competencies and assess academic programs against these outcomes;.
  • modify general education requirements to incorporate the eight learning outcomes;
  • change the focus from teaching to learning through the use of such methods as ñClassroom Action Researchî and ñService Learningî with the participation of 20 faculty involving 80 courses; and
  • customize new student orientations by academic department and streamline the registration process.
